Safety IPFS fies

Assuming IPFS doesn’t use the cloud cluster due to Company bankruptcy and merger if IPFS is hosted only in peer companies, what happens when they die and files get disposed? in the case of medical records or Big Data, the original owner may never be found for 30 years. Original computers seem to be replaced every 3 years on average. I burn our files for 12 months before replacing will we forever back up other peer files?

Three important points:

  • Each IPFS node is the responsibility of the IPFS node owner… in many cases this entity and the Data Owner are one and the same… and the data are all stored locally in the IPFS directory on the host.
  • The IPFS public gateways are not responsible for storing anyone else’s data.
  • Any commercial pining service utilized has its own terms of usage.
