Multimedia sub-referencing standards

most of the internet files are , cropping , resize , recombination of the other files .
it happens a lot when we need a sub section of a video , audio or image .
if we could have an standard to reference a subsection of a multimedia file it would keep us from producing extra cropped files and use the original files + sub-referencing metadata instead .
Gem2-1500x1346 (2)
or sections of audio files :

do we have such standard on IPFS already ?
just the original multimedia CID and some metadata , instead of producing new files and clogging the net .

Its a good idea but probably doesn’t need anything specific from IPFS. It could probably be implemented on IPFS/IPLD though.

I’d start with adapting the following

https://www.w3.org/TR/annotation-model/
https://www.w3.org/TR/mediaont-10/

and possibly
