Interested in putting your IPFS use case onto Filecoin?

Hi there! My name is David, and I’m on the IPFS team at Protocol Labs.

With Filecoin mainnet launch right around the corner (target end of Sept.), our team is making a big push to get as many IPFS devs as possible to store their project’s data on Filecoin’s testnet in the next few weeks - the (ambitious) target is September 14. The testnet is running the latest Filecoin code; you’re able to store/retrieve data on it, and is actively monitored by Protocol Labs teammates. We can support this tight timeline with cash/FIL grants as well as with support from our engineering team and community.

There are a number of ways to integrate IPFS with Filecoin, but one of the simplest is to back up data you’re already storing on IPFS to Filecoin via Textile’s Powergate. You can run a Powergate node locally or in the cloud (and connect it to a remote IPFS node); some 3rd party pinning services are also [offering / planning to implement Filecoin integration. These are great options for decentralized archival of data that is already on your IPFS nodes.
